|
|
I recently installed Gentoo with a custom kernel and am having difficulty emerging kdebase-meta. When trying to run emerge, I receive the following error:
!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:
sys-auth/pambase:0
(sys-auth/pambase-20101024-r2::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)
(sys-auth/pambase-20120417-r2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
sys-auth/pambase[consolekit] required by (sys-auth/polkit-0.110::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
sys-libs/zlib:0
(sys-libs/zlib-1.2.7::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)
(sys-libs/zlib-1.2.7::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=sys-libs/zlib-1.2.5.1-r2:0[minizip] required by (dev-db/virtuoso-server-6.1.6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
virtual/udev:0
(virtual/udev-200::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
>=virtual/udev-197[gudev,hwdb(+)] required by (sys-fs/udisks-2.1.0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
>=virtual/udev-200[gudev] required by (sys-power/upower-0.9.21::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
(and 1 more with the same problems)
(virtual/udev-197-r3::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
=virtual/udev-197-r3 required by (x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.20.13::gentoo, installed)
(and 9 more with the same problem)
It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
that will solve this conflict automatically.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks |

Have you ever got KDE working on this machine yet? Just trying to see what went wrong here if anything, or is this just a new install.
If it is new and never installed a DE before, is your /etc/make.profile linked to the proper kde desktop profile (I found this made the install a lot easier for Gnome, and suspect similar for kde). _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

Just a few questions:- What profile have you selected? If it's not a desktop profile, correct that. (I find it easier to set the "desktop" profile until X is working and then switch to the kde profile.)
- Have you installed X? If not, do that before installing KDE. There's a handy guide.
- Have you made sure X is working? Checking that now will eliminate it as a possibility before all of the complication of the heavyweight DE.
- Have you switched to the kde profile?
After getting all of those prerequisites out of the way, kdebase-meta should install without issue. Note that there's more to it than just emerging it though. There's a handy guide that covers all of the steps.
