http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-23930675

Quote:
A new London skyscraper dubbed the "Walkie Talkie" has been blamed for reflecting light which melted parts of a car parked on a nearby street.

Martin Lindsay parked his Jaguar on Eastcheap, in the City of London, on Thursday afternoon.

When he returned about two hours later, he found parts of his car - including the wing mirror and badge - had melted.

Mr Lindsay said he "could not believe" the damage. The developers have apologised and paid for repairs.

The 37-storey skyscraper at 20 Fenchurch Street, which has been nicknamed the "Walkie Talkie" because of its shape, is currently under construction.

Parabolic mirror effect. Either that or Uri Geller farted when he walked passed the car.

"I said: 'I am the owner. Crikey, that's awful.'"

Good thing somebody noticed this. There might have been a rash of unexplained "spontaneous human combustion".

Hard to believe nobody foresaw this problem. Giant reflective parabola; what could go wrong.

Now they're going to have to come up with some kind of a diffraction grating or something they can put over the glass. I wonder if some kind of coating could be used.

Back when I enrolled at the school of architecture, you had to pass exam to get in, among other things, math :) That was back when they still used drawing boards :)

no thanks, 'lovely' means you don't need a boat to cross the street. And poor mdeininger... already been brainwashed. *sigh*

It's pretty unique as a moated castle - well castle in it's loosest possible sense, as it's more a home than a fort.

Bit like Crack de Chevalier appears to be a bloody solid lump of rock and recognisable.

Finally found the predecessor, the original Death Ray. I'm pretty sure it was posted here, but I didn't find it.

Have you seen the HUGE koi carp in the moat? The place is full of it!

Yeah, you can tell how often that happens by the way that chick looks like she was just taken off the slab of a morgue.

She's like one of the Gremlins: "Bright Light! Bright Light!"

Edit: I hope it's not your sister or something. :P
