|
|
I just installed the basics on an HP Mini 2140, so basically the screen and the portage, compiled the kernel and installed Grub. It seems like is booting properly i can see the initial verbosity of a gentoo booting after grub. But then I just get a black screen, I can tell the screen is on. I havent installed the Xs or any graphics yet. I tried ctr+alt+f1, f2, etc. I can see the hardisk led blinking so I know something is happening. What else can I do. |

check the owners manual for led backlight on off and brightness controls, play with them
if no good result
boot the install cd, mount the gentoo partitions
Code: | emerge wgetpaste
lspci -k | wgetpaste
wgetpaste /mnt/gentoo/usr/src/linux/.config
wgetpaste /boot/grub/grub.conf
wgetpaste /boot/grub/grub.cfg
wgetpaste /boot/grub2/grub.cfg | post url's returned, 2 of 3 grub pastes should fail, depends on grub version _________________ Defund the FCC. |

I don't know if you have an intel card, but check if adding video.use_bios_initial_backlight=0 helps. It helped me on a Lenovo g500, when mode setting was starting everything went black.
Also in case you want to check if your computer does work in the dark, if you have sash enabled at boot, you can ssh (you can still activate it by a lived, mount and cheroot) |
