issue with gdesklets + openbox3

can anybody confirm this or give me a hint for a solution?

I have Gnome-2.4, Gnome gDesklets 0.22.1, Openbox 3.0-rc4

I'd like to use the gdesklet Starterbar (x11-plugins/desklet-starterbar) but it behaves strange when running openbox as WM (the issue does not appear with Metacity as WM):

I can put as many starters on the bar as I want but when I click on any of them always the last in the row gets selected/opened.
Also, I cannot edit the starters: I hover over one, it grows. I right-click: the "edit" is not available

Now, by incidence I finally noticed that the Starterbar does work when I hold the CRTL key when clicking with the mouse on the starters.

Any explanation for that? And a hint, how to get the normal behavior?

Openbox3 looks like just the right WM to replace sawfish for me so I won't accept suggestions for other WMs

I'm also getting the "last icon only" problem and have no edit option, except that I'm using Gnome 2.4, gDesklets 0.22.1, and Metacity 2.6.1_p1-r1. Ctrl dosn't help either.

same problem here underfluxbox, sucks too cause it looks really good. maybe its time to email the developer on this one..
