Hi,

I'm having weird network issues on a Gentoo box I'm using as a gateway.
When it boots it works fine for some time.
At some point it starts losing packets on all of its ethernet ports (so it's not a NIC issue).
Rebooting the server makes the network work fine again for a while until the issue comes up again.

This is what I tried right before rebooting the server:

Code:

# ping -I eth1 google.com
PING google.com (173.194.34.227) from 192.168.228.1 eth1: 56(84) bytes of data.

The iptables are not modified so I really don't know what could be happening (must it be iptables-related or could it be something else?).
I'm also scanning for rootkits just in case.

What else could I try?

Thanks,

Vieri
