Or, physically take the device off the teenager. Cheaper and less likely to be circumvented by resetting the device :-)

This should be mandatory on the phones of all Americans, and it could be loaded with important history and civics lessons designed by the Department of Education.

"Who freed the slaves?"
a. Kim Kardashian
b. Justin Bieber
c. The Democratic Party
d. Kanye West

"Who killed Osama bin Laden?"
a. Paris Hilton
b. Lindsey Lohan
c. Snooki
d. President Barack H. Obama

"What brave and trustworthy organization keeps us safe every day from Enemies of the People?"
a. The National Security Agency
b. Planned Parenthood
c. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)
d. Service Employees International Union (SEIU)

"Who saved America from the Economic Disaster created by the Republicans?"
a. Michael Jackson
b. President Barack H. Obama"
c. Nicki Minaj
d. Chris Brown

Congratulations! You can now use your phone! :D

That won't happen. The big telecom is going to come in and take this app away because it cuts down their revenues.

They might try.

Even if they paid the guy off to shit-can his app, there would be another one right behind it. The only way to stop it would be to pay the OS people to restrict their APIs to prevent developers from being able to modify the login screen and restrict access to the system.

That would be hard for them to explain, and these phone OSes are increasingly dependent upon small developers to add value to their platforms (they don't want to piss developers off), so the telecoms would have to pay the OS people a lot of money to do it, or otherwise get their balls in a vise somehow to compel them to do it. Right now, I think it's more the phone OS people and big phone makers who have the telecoms' balls in a vise.

I think that a teenager who manages to circumvent this application has learned enough about computers that she or he has earned a few free calls. :)

It'd certainly encourage more hacking.

I believe the correct answer is: D. Or maybe B.
