Everytime E17 tries to make a thumbnail for any video file be it avi, wmv, mkv, mp4 etc etc - all I get is a blank grey square.

The error I see is

Code:

gst_init_file
setting file file://path/to/video.mp4
could not complete pause

I have googled this issue and there are very few solutions to it, all of which I have tried, I have changed from ffmpeg to libav, updated gstreamer, but nothing seems to work

Anyone out there using E17 who might be able to shed some light on this issue?

Also since the update E17 seems sluggish, its on a core i7 laptop so I see no reason why it should be
