|
|
Hi all,
sorry if this has been asked somewhere else already.
For about 3 days I'm trying to fix my gnome-desktop.
After the update to 3.8, gdm seems not to start gnome-desktop. The login fields disapear, the background keeps unchanged and I can move the mouse. Nothing else
Does anyone have an idea about this?
I updated all packages (emerge -u world) and also did a revdep-rebuild. On another system I also updated to gnome-3.8 without this issue.
I'm using systemd.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried starting Gnome 3.8 without gdm?
<ctrl><alt>F1 to the 1st console and "systemctl disable gdm" then "systemctl stop gdm".
Change to F2 console login as a user and try startx.... Do you get your gnome desktop ?

Thanks for your response.
I noticed that it seemed to be something with my user account after I logged in as a different user and not having this issue.
I deleted some of my .local gconf folders and now it works again |
