|
|
Just installed Gentoo on my new computer, but now I have problem with nvidia.
When I type from console "modprobe nvidia" console just hangs - cant switch to other virtualconsoles or type. In the same time ctrl+alt+del works and also caps lock and num lock works. I did ssh from another computer and messages log shows :
Code: |
Aug 7 12:28:38 localhost kernel: [ 480.658995] nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
Aug 7 12:28:38 localhost kernel: [ 480.658997] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint
Aug 7 12:28:38 localhost kernel: [ 480.662759] vgaarb: device changed decodes: PCI:0000:01:00.0,olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=none:owns=none

nvidia module got loaded into kernel
Code: |
# lsmod
Module Size Used by
nvidia 9317926 0

and I can unload it, but console still frozen. Tried latest stable and unstable nvidia-drivers.

I finally got everything running - it took 15min after I decided to pull in new and unstable kernel 3.10.7 instead of current stable 3.8.13. Minor tweaks in config related to filesystems and Graphic support (removed intel) and now I have nice KDE running on my box. |
