Hello,

when I emerged Firefox, I endet up with Aurora which is Firefox in version 17.0.7 or something like that.

Many addons do not work with this version, is there a way to get a more recent version?

Regards

See this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-966802-highlight-.html

You can use this to do it:
Code:
echo 'www-client/firefox ~amd64' >> /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords
echo 'www-client/firefox -bindist' >> /etc/portage/package.use

For some reason this does not work, or I am doing something wrong.

After entering the commands you provided it still emerges firefox 17.0.7.

Furthermore I followed the instructions that can be found here:

http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Knowledge_Base:Accepting_a_keyword_for_a_single_package

However it still tells me that keyword changes are necessary .... any ideas?

Yes, make the changes it demands. Portage doesn't arbitrary ask you to keyword packages.

Do you have an amd64 or an x86 Gentoo (or something else) ? And of course look at "--autounmask=y" feature of portage, newer firefox versions might depend on unstable nss and nspr libs.

If found the problem, the guide state:.

Quote:
Examine the diff output, press q to exit the pager (if you don't see commands at the end), and then u for use-new if you want to accept the alterations.

I was a little confused by this, pressing u, without q before solved the problem.
