|
|
Hello everyone,
I decided to switch to systemd (because of Gnome 3.8 and for other reasons). I followed the instructions on http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Systemd carefully, but... my system does not boot at all. The boot process hangs after The messages
Code: |
[Failed] Failed to start udev cold plug all devices. See ...
... USB stuff
[OK] Reached target System Initialization
[OK] Reached target Basic System
|
Then I have two more lines:
Code: |
systemd-udevd (105) used greatest stack depth: 5680 bytes left
|
Then after about 300 s (!), I get a last life sign:
Code: |
kworker/u:1 (67) used greatest stack depth: 4848 bytes left
|
I've already tried to remove the USB devices attached to my system, with no different result. The system is running with a 3.8.13 Gentoo Sources kernel, and systemd 204.
I also tried to get more output from systemd via different kernel parameters (like systemd.log_target=kmsg systemd.log_level=debug) with no result.
What I'm not sure: Is this problem maybe caused by my separate /usr partition (which is a LVM volume)? /usr should be mounted by my initramfs (created with Dracut).
Anyone with ideas?
Best regards

Hello everyone,
it turned out to be a problem with the initramfs created by Dracut. An initramfs created with genkernel works. Some problems remain, for example that the kernel does recognize my root partition if I use systemd as init system. But for this problem there is already another thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-965698.html
Best regards

What command did you use for Dracut? |
