Gnome Stable - Clock Wrong

Hi,

My Hardware Clock is set to UTC. The date command returns the correct time and timezone (EDT). However, my GNOME clock is set to UTC. I have 2 clocks, one at Internet Time, and one set (the format string) to "24-hour".

I have NTP and NTPD installed and running. My timezone/location in the menu that shows up when I click is correct. Even the analog clock right next to it is correct. However, the time that shows up whenever I send emails, whenever I access the internet, is off by 4 hours.

Any advice would be nice.

Though this might be off topic, but it may be related.

I had a lot of problems getting Gnome weather applet working - and this ended up being due to timezones not set properly completely. Apparently Gnome-2 timezones are dealt with internally and not completely to system time (?!?!) and setting the timezone in Gnome correctly that matches with system timezone made the weather applet work...

Don't know about Gnome3 however.

On your gnome clock in your taskbar if you still have it, you can click on it, then click on locations and edit. Make sure your default location is there that matches the system clock. Meaning, don't select EST5EDT, select your actual location for /etc/localtime and make sure your location is set here in Gnome too.

With the two set differently the weather applet in gnome clock won't work... Hopefully at least that will work for you if it isn't already, if nothing else...
