Hi all.

Yesterday I've upgraded my system. I got kde-4.10.5 and xorg-server-1.13.4...

Today, since KDE was acting funny, i tought it was because of the upgrade, i rebooted my computer, and ever since, i cant login...

X doesn't start, KDM never gets loaded... I tried already login in with startx, but is the same... I just get a black screen...

I've searched and searched and i can't find anything in the logs...

Here is my Xorg.0.log
http://pastebin.com/15mn6V90

My kdm log:

Code:
[    29.176] Current Operating System: Linux nightraider 3.9.7-ck #6 SMP Tue Jul 30 11:46:40 WEST 2013 x86_64
[    34.573] (EE) NVIDIA(GPU-0): WAIT: (E, 0, 0x917d)
The last entry in your log is an error related to the nvidia driver. Did you make any changes to the kernel since last successful boot? Can you see if the problem also exists with nouveau or a different (vanilla/gentoo) kernel?

Hi chithanh. Thanks for the reply.

I've already rebooted and rebooted and installed the nvidia drivers (since 9:30am - It's now 12:30am) i've been doing this (upgrading nvidia, downgrading nvidia) and it's still the same.

I'm trying now with nouveau... I've already enabled it in kernel, changed VIDEO_CARDS variable and now i'm re-emerging with --changed-use flag.... I'll remove the nvidia drivers, reboot and see .

I'll post the results in a moment.

Cheers

Yellow !

It didn't help...

Instead of a black screen, i get some green stripes along the screen while booting. Not even the booting process i can see now... I'll try remove the framebuffer options from the kernel and reboot...

I'll also try with gentoo-sources....

Cheers

Bruno

Indeed, uvesafb and nouveau do not mix.
To exclude a possible hardware problem, you could try booting from live CD.

Hi.

I have an integrated graphics card - Intel - I've enabled it in BIOS and now i'm trying with that...

The funny thing is, my grub background (gentoo default) was looking kind of funny when booting with my nvidia card... The same didn't happen when booting with the intel video card.... I wonder if my nvidia card went bust....

Post the results in a few moments....

Cheers

Well...

Now with intel everything works. I already have X and i'm working again...

I guess my nvidia card just went dead..... I'll do some more tests and i'll boot with a livecd using the nvidia card and see what happens...

Thank you chithanh for your help !

Cheers,

Bruno Santos
