|
|
Hi All,
I'm trying to use the bootstraph shell script to install gentoo on two different RHEL5 servers. Every time I get to stage 3, ebuild appears to hang when it gets to installing the headers. Any tips on what could be going on?
Thanks,
B

I encountered the same problem while trying to run stage3 of installing gentoo with a prefix.
It is just that in my case, the linux headers have version 3.9.
Is it the bootstrap script or the kernel headers?

In the process listing in my previous post, you can see the $EPREFIX/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild-helpers/unprivileged/chown binary hanging.
For a workaround, I killed that chown process on another terminal without killing the original ebuild process, which then continued.
Still, this was not the only problem I encountered. Later on, emerge could not update portage because it complained about the profile Code: | gentoo_prefix:prefix/linux/x86 | being deprecated. I'm not new to Linux or package managers in general, but new to Gentoo and could not manage to update the prefix system. |
