Hi All,

I'm trying to use the bootstraph shell script to install gentoo on two different RHEL5 servers. Every time I get to stage 3, ebuild appears to hang when it gets to installing the headers. Any tips on what could be going on?
Thanks,
B

I encountered the same problem while trying to run stage3 of installing gentoo with a prefix.
It is just that in my case, the linux headers have version 3.9.
Is it the bootstrap script or the kernel headers?

Code:

In the process listing in my previous post, you can see the $EPREFIX/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild-helpers/unprivileged/chown binary hanging.
For a workaround, I killed that chown process on another terminal without killing the original ebuild process, which then continued.
Still, this was not the only problem I encountered. Later on, emerge could not update portage because it complained about the profile
Code:
 gentoo_prefix:prefix/linux/x86
being deprecated. I'm not new to Linux or package managers in general, but new to Gentoo and could not manage to update the prefix system.
