|
|
I am trying to install gentoo.
I downloaded install-x86-minimal-20130528.iso and made bootable USB using
dd if=*.iso of=/dev/sdb
But when I reboot machine and boot from usb, the screen stop at
instead of at the end,
scanning hardwares...
loading keymaps...
mounting...
etc...
or everything went well before the end as expected though.
I am stucking in that black screen with at the left-top of it.
I don't know how to login because I have yet install even a piece of file.
Please help me!
I have tried with another USB stick and many times.
And I also tried on netbook and Desktop as well.
Gentoo bootable USB ends up
on both of Desktop and netbook.
so, still missing something...
I burned same iso to CD and it is ok on Desktop. (Netbook no cdrom)
the problem I am having with is bootable USB.
Please anyone help or advice me any...
I am trying to install Gentoo on Asus netboot with no cdrom.
So, bootable USB is essential for me. |

Welcome to gentoo.
Unfortunately I think this bug has been going around for a while. You may want to check the bugzilla and add this iso if it hasn't already been done.
The workaround is to use the System Rescue CD Its Gentoo biased and includes a working X environment (xfce). Using it will not change anything in the hand book at all, however you can use GUI tools over command line ones for some tasks like partitioning the hard drive and downloading the stage 3. Since nothing on the CD is actually retained on your final install it makes absolutely no difference.
EDIT: Actually it will change 1 thing in the install process. Networking is much easer to use since you will have networkmanager at your disposal. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |
