The instructions you link to show you how to run startx from the user's .bashrc. I use the following script to automatically login a user on a virtual console (vc): Code: | #!/bin/bash
exec 0</dev/$1 1>/dev/$1 2>&1
#cat /etc/issue
shift
exec $* |
If the script is at /sbin/autologin then change one of the vc lines in /etc/inittab to something like: Code: | c2:2345:respawn:/sbin/autologin tty2 login -f $USER |
where $USER is the username of the user you want logged in. This line will automatically login on the 2nd vc.
I have no idea if this will play nice with running startx from .bashrc. This is set to respawn so if the session gets logged out for any reason it will automatically log in again without asking for a username or password. |

Code: | $ cat >> .bashrc
startx
sleep 10
exit
|
Code: | $ cat >> .xinitrc
exec xbmc --standalone
