I used xmodmap to remap one key to <dead_greek>, which is useful to write classic greek characters. The thing is that the remap works perfectly on rxvt, but it is completely ignored by all the GTK apps. 8O

My system is nothing fancy, just Openbox. The xmodmap command is placed on my .xinitrc and I start my session through startx (no display manager at the moment). Additionally, xev correctly reports the <dead_greek> keycode every time I press the corresponding key.

So, the <dead_greek> is not reaching gtk apps for some reason, or gtk apps are ignoring it... I'm clueless :?

Thanks in advance

Good! This is solved!

I had to explicitly set in .xinitrc the GTK_IM_MODULE environment variable to
Code:
export GTK_IM_MODULE="xim"
Now I can write α, β, γ... with two keystrokes :D
