|
|
Hi
I am looking for an old Firebird 1.5.6 ebuild. It has probably being removed due to this version so old. I got customers still using this version. Would someone have a copy of an 1.5 ebuild or could I use a deb or rpm version from their website to install.
Thanks |

Teegrins, kilburna!
I don't have one, but there is this place called AnonCVS:
http://anoncvs.gentoo.org/ And the attic feature for the sources:
http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/dev-db/firebird/?hideattic=0 The version you ask of, doesn't seem to exist (at least not under x86), but one might modify one of those for the 1.5.6 one, which actually seems to be the one and only 1.5 version available at the Firebird homepage.
I do hope this helps, or that I at least was looking at the correct application. ^^; _________________ Kindest of regardses. |

Many thanks Ciitoo. This is why I LOVE Gentoo. I will bookmark that link.

My Excitement is short lived. The ebuild requires firebird-1.5.4-debian-patchset.tar.bz2 file which is no where to be found. Any magical place wher this might be or someone who still has this file. |

Yeah. Unfortunately, the ebuild(s) would need more or less work.
I was playing around with it a bit (okay, hours), but couldn't really find out which patches might have been in this mysterious debian set. I did find quite a few patches both from Gentoo (http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/dev-db/firebird/files/?hideattic=0) and Debian (http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-firebird/1.5/trunk/debian/patches/), but I can't easily enough find out which are needed, as I'm apparently having different ideas of things with the autogen...
Took me actually quite a while to notice that the 1.5.4.4910 sources are still on a Gentoo mirror, and I didn't try building those yet, but I was instead trying to use the 1.5.6 sources from the official homepage (http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/firebird-1-5/).
I definitely haven't got enough experience on ebuilds yet to be of help. I guess you do have the option of installing the binary available at the Firebird homepage (I do believe there is such a thing available). It is not recommended to install them outside Portage, as you might know, but you are of course free to do that if you are willing to face the risks. An ebuild for the binary, if that would suffice, should be a lot easier to whip up, too.
I will probably try messing with the ebuild(s) more some day, as it seems like interesting practice, but I doubt anything good will come of it. ^^;
My apologies for having sparked premature excitement. I do hope it might all lead up to a happy ending, eventually!
Best of luck~ _________________ Kindest of regardses. |
