Every time my parents go on a holiday, I update there system. Unfortunately, this time, something seems to be broken afterwards.

The system had already been running Gnome 3 in fallback mode (because of Intel 82865 GPU).

Since the update of some things, fonts of the root user (after graphical root login as well as things like GDM) are unrecognizably blocky

Would really appreciate some help or tips before my parents return :)

Please file bugs like these at https://bugs.gentoo.org; make sure you attach /var/log/emerge.log so they can more easily figure out what has broken and fix it, as that file might be big you can consider to only include the part of this update. The date / time is in Unix timestamp format; so, you can convert it here or alternative do `emerge genlop` and provide the relevant part of the `genlop -l` output.

I used the forum/IRC because feedback on Bugzilla isn't always that prompt.

Logged as bug 477212.

Thanks for any feedback, even if it's not the 100% right solution.
