I upgraded to the latest patches for my gentoo server running as a SNORT IDS

when I attempt to start snort it fails with the error

pfring: Module API version (0x10001) differs from expected version (0x10002)
daq_pfring.so: Failed to register DAQ module

during the upgrade DAQ was upgraded to net-libs/daq-2.0

Snort is version 2.9.4.6 from portage

Have not found any forum postings for this issue, has only seen/resolved this?
