Finally, a movie that does away with all the existential bullshit, doesn't bring up questions on whether or not what its doing is right, and no love interest plotline. It sets up the plot, and shows giant robots punching aliens IN THE FACE! And sometimes, that's all a movie needs to be awesom. Forgettable, but awesome.

Awesome review. I'll watch it Friday morning.

Not sure... but you should. For the following three reasons :

1. Guillermo del Toro

2. Giant Robots

3. Kaiju

You see films like this for the same reason you see porn and kung fu films... It ain't for the in depth back story or character evolvement

I have read some strange reviews on this concerning those 2 points. I don't fucking care! Its got fuck off big monsters and fuck off big robots! Wtf do you think is going to happen? Some deep philosophical appreciation of each others existance?

I have been trying to see this for the last week

F. Paul Wilson gave it an interesting review earlier :

PACIFIC RIM in Imax 3D - wow. Just wow. I could sit here and pick it apart (the physics, internal inconsistencies, etc.) but I'm too blown away by the sheer audacity of the production. Imax 3D allows you to appreciate the enormous scale of just about everything in the film. Part of the fun is the film's references: from Godzilla to Transformers to Bladerunner, even Star Trek's red shirts, while still maintaining its own gestalt. I liked it a lot but I didn't love it (which would mean I'd go see it again).

I was never "into" Transformers, which is what this reminded me of, so I can't really get interested in it.

How could you NOT enjoy a movie where a giant robot punches an alien in the face?
