|

Hi,
I've just finished installing Gentoo (no desktop installed yet though) but from the command line, output to the screen seems a little slow. Anyone know what I need to check and change?
To give you an idea, if I run 'time cat /var/log/messages, the output is:
Code: |
real 1m14.455s
user 0m0.10s
sys 1m14.300s
|
I know /var/log/messages can take a while anyway but even 'ifconfig -a' is:
Code: |
real 0m1.123s
users 0m0.000s
sys 0m1.110s
|
Thanks in advance! |

Bash is not involved in printing the output of commands you run. Your problem lies with the terminal itself. Since you say you have no desktop installed, I assume you mean that you have not installed X and are still using the Linux console interface. Are you running in 80x25 or a high resolution text mode? What graphics card and drivers are you using? |
