|
|
Hi Folks:
I am trying to install Minimal install CD 20130617-amd64.iso, boot into gentoo,
ifconfig -a or iwconfig does not list my Belkin USB WiFi adapter. So no wpa_supplicant, and I dont have /us/bin/lsusb program.
I need to get Wifi Working, get Install CD moving to stage 3 install. Stuck at WiFi. On Dell Optiplex 755
Thanks,
Pete |

minimal cd lacks support for wifi.
http://www.sysresccd.org/Download provides good wifi support, is gentoo based, can be booted to a gui with browser. _________________ Defund the FCC. |

Thanks Mr. Donahue:
I did download SystemRescudeCD; altkernel64 and altkernel32 have WiFi modules. I did not find any installer.
So I did cp -afv /livemnt/squsashfs to mounted /dev/sda1
cp -r /livemnt/boot/isolinux to mounted /dev/sda1
recreated /etc/fstab, got grub entry to altkernel64.
Can boot, and emerge --sync
But it boots into /root eiter in tty or to dostartx to desktop. I want it to boot to a Desktop Manager lxdm or gdm, I have created a user by useradd.
What do I need to change the boot to not go to /root?
Thanks

patherton,
Start over following the Gentoo Handbook
You are the Gentoo Installer. Boot System Rescue CD, open a root terminal, and start at the beginning. _________________ Regards,

sysresccd will usually boot to command line interface. startx will normally bring up xfce GUI. a network manager icon will be in the lower right corner of the xfce desktop. _________________ Defund the FCC. |
