I have been looking for a suitable replacement for an aging acer aspire that has been a real good laptop. And after a disappointing search on newegg findding relatively few laptops with screen resolutions higher than 1366 x 768 i found system76.
After some research to see if it is really a foss friendly laptop and not a laptop with a lot of glue code, i found a bump.
They need you to install a driver package named after their company to get stuff to work.
I can't find what is in this driver, is it glue code that only works on ubuntu? or can all the hardware work out of the box on a gentoo install with all the features, like for example palm detection support for the touch pad? Or would i be able to install their drivers on a gentoo install? |
