apparently, there's an issue with team fortress on x64, this is the console output

I just launched TF2 fine here - 64bit so it must be something specific to your setup

bleh, I figured out that tf2 actually starts, it just takes like 3 to 4 minutes to do so.
Also it's offline mode so I checked several things.

If I stop iptables, tf2 starts without problem
These are my firewall rules:

tf2 doesn't exactly tell me which port it's using...

Add a log rule to log the dropped packets.
Save Rules
Restart iptables
Run TF2
Read the log
Then you should know what port(s) are used, and can add a new exception to your rules.
At that point you may want to remove the log rule, since them dropped logfiles can get big fast.
