Trying to switch. XDM is not starting at default, as per my order. Trying to be able to start GNOME from the CLI, gnome-session doesn't work. Using Nouveau drivers until I can get Nvidia drivers working.
Any advice? |

Post the output of;
Code: |
# /etc/init.d/dbus status
|
Code: |
# grep DISPLAYMANAGER /etc/conf.d/xdm
|
What happens when you run;
Code: |
# /etc/init.d/xdm start
|
Did you try startx?
As a regular user!
Code: |
$ echo "exec gnome-session" > ~/.xinitrc
$ startx

DISPLAYMANAGER="lightdm"

* Caching service dependencies ... [ ok ]
* Setting up lightdm ...
* Something is already defined on VT 7, will start X later
