I don't suppose anyone can tell me why this happens (see linked screen capture). It's been happening on a couple of machines.

It happens both on remote windows and local windows on the system in question. I've tried to search but anything I can think of to describe it turns up nothing.

I'm on kernel 3.8.13, amd64, and will be happy to post more stuff. I've included links to emerge --info and Xorg log below.

Cheers, thanks guys.

That's a test theme that comes with GTK2. Change to a more appropriate one.

This is happening both on local windows and remote Xwindows, and not all windows, just windows that use QT4 (I think).

Most of the applications windows on this machine are normal. (KDE4 Desktop Apps are fine.)

I'm pretty sure that this sort of problem can't be transferred from a monitor back through a remote Xwindows connection.

Cool, I'll look at changing GTK2 theme. Cheers.

If you aren't sure, it's okay to wait a few minutes and see if someone who actually knows has an answer. Guesses just prevent a thread from appearing in the list of unanswered posts.

Ant P has it right.

Changed GTK2 from Default to any other GTK2 theme (in KDE System Settings, Appearance, GTK, GTK2) and applied and all windows are great now.

Thanks Ant P
