I am a bit confused (and has no time to experiment on live systems ) how with CUPS-1.6 cusd and cups-browsed should be configured to interplay.
I have two scenarios
1)
my work server which serves my local printers as well as common departamental printers which speak CUPS protocol (there will never be bonjour there).
Also several local clients which pick up whatever local server passes to them. No bonjour here either.
2) At home, local printer server advertise local printers, clients are a mix of gentoo and Mac OsX Lions, with cups config hacked to talk CUPS in addition to bonjour.
currently printer server does not speak bonjour, but it may. Gentoo clients probably will not, since they are travelling laptops.
so where should I now run cupsd, where cupsd-browser, and where both, assuming that I want to run only what is needed ? |
