After a restart today, my Audigy2 card stopped being recognized by alsa. The card worked fine until I restarted the machine.
alsa-info.sh link: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=17fdc192d339afe0982313f7b0a9c88faa96a378
the modules are loaded:
Code: | strazce@thor ~ $ lsmod | grep snd
snd_emu10k1 133208 0
snd_usb_audio 101268 1
snd_util_mem 2148 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec 108176 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_usbmidi_lib 18310 1 snd_usb_audio
snd_hwdep 5782 2 snd_usb_audio,snd_emu10k1
ac97_bus 1079 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_rawmidi 18179 2 snd_usbmidi_lib,snd_emu10k1
snd_seq_device 4821 2 snd_rawmidi,snd_emu10k1
snd_hda_codec_realtek 57986 1
snd_hda_intel 24182 3
snd_hda_codec 73533 2 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel |
but alsa doesn't see the Audigy (emu10k1) card
Code: | strazce@thor ~ $ aplay -l

hi,
maybe you don't have
Code: | ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1" |
in you make.conf? or you haven't compiled alsa-tools with the "alsa_cards_emu10k1" USE-flag?
btw, how did you managed to set up the card the first time? _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language!" |

The card was working for about 4 years, I made no updates before this restart, so USE flags and make.conf should not make any difference. Anyways, i do have ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1" in make.conf
Code: | [ebuild R ] media-sound/alsa-tools-1.0.26:0.9 USE="gtk -fltk" ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1 -darla20 -darla24 -echo3g -emu10k1x -gina20 -gina24 -hdsp -hdspm -ice1712 -indigo -indigoio -layla20 -layla24 -mia -mixart -mona -pcxhr -rme32 -rme96 -sb16 -sbawe -sscape -usb-usx2y -vx222" 1,714 kB |
I'm currently running an update (there is a lot of KDE packages, so it will take a while), then I will try to reboot into a Ubuntu Live CD to see if it isn't a hardware problem. _________________ The question of whether Machines Can Think... is about as relevant as the question of whether Submarines Can Swim.

OK. I rebooted back to Gentoo with kernel updated to 3.8.13 and the Audigy card suddenly reappeared.
I have no idea what could have happened - with the older kernel, the card worked normally, then suddenly stopped working after a reboot - I tried rebootig several times, it still wouldn't work. Now everything seems fine. _________________ The question of whether Machines Can Think... is about as relevant as the question of whether Submarines Can Swim.
