I'm trying to install the nVidia drivers (version 319.17), but the emerge fails with the following error:
Connecting to download.nvidia.com.. |199.2.204.150|:21.. connected.
Logging in as anonymous
Login incorrect
So it seems nVidia is not allowing anonymous downloads from their ftp site.
Anybody got any ideas to resolve this?
TIA! _________________ Casey Bralla

I was able to download the file manually from the nVidia web site, after accepting the license terms.
I placed the file in the /usr/portage/distfiles/ directory, and emerge no longer tried to download the file. _________________ Casey Bralla

Hi Vorlon.
I guess your fetch restriction is because you haven't accept nvidia's licence.
From my experience there was always a hint into portages out put to inform you about this.
For the future you could solve this by adding to your make.conf, if you're willing to accept all licences, but you could differentiate it also to special licences if you want.
Its mentioned here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=2&chap=1#doc_chap4
