You're going to get what you deserve.

Unanimous decision.

Damn.

Did the farmer use Round Up brand herbicide on his fields? I hope he did because that would make me feel a little bit better that he tried to rip off Monsanto and therefore got the judgement he deserved. If he didn't use Round Up on his fields then Monsanto should not have had any standing. I'll be looking deeper into this one.

I wonder if the RoundUp ready trait is engineered to be Dominant or recessive. Farmers who want to use RoundUp ready seeds would probably demand that they be Dominant traits but if recessive then it would be a lot easier for Monsanto to control their stock without it getting out of control...no incentive for them to do so, though.

Next we'll have "Roundup-Ready Federal Stormtroopers"; then "Domestic Contingency Operations" will be a simple crop-dusting exercise.

B-1s will do flybys in soy country and dust everything with RoundUp so that Monsanto can go after all the people whose crops remain that don't have a contract with them...

They'll have to support the operation with F-22s who will engage in dogfights with farmers flying biplanes with browning machine guns that have been modified to be semi-automatic mounted on the wings.

Forget subsidies these are supersidies!

Patenting a biological entity? That doesn't even make sense.

Patents are destructive to the progress of humanity.

You are thinking about this in wrong terms. It is not the soybean that is patented; the gene that allows the plant to be resistant to RoundUp brand weedkillers is what is patented. It is completely reasonable to patent an engineered gene that doesn't already occur in nature or hadn't been discovered prior to engineering it. It is comparable to software patents.

Wasn't that the point of: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-955510-highlight-monsanto.html
To stop patent trolls knocking some agricultural company offline during a dispute

So it all works.

They have validity. They are abused.

You are entitled to your opinion, I happen to disagree with it in this case.
