Hi, all,
I'm using genkernel's initramfs to mount partitions I have in an LVM that is on a partition encrypted with dm-crypt/LUKS. The dm-crypt/LUKS partition needs a password which is entered at boot time. I created it with:
Code: | cryptsetup -y -c aes-xts-plain64 -s 512 luksFormat /dev/sda2 |
I'd just like to confirm that having /etc/init.d/dmcrypt and /etc/init.d/lvm started is pointless as the initramfs would have already mounted everything for me, or am I misunderstanding?
From what I've come to gather, those scripts are only useful for mounting things you have defined in /etc/conf.d/dmcrypt and such -- I haven't done that, since I've encrypted my root, swap, and /home partitions, so I've used the initramfs. |
