|
|
Hi, all,
I see the default version of gcc is 4.6.3, and there is gcc 4.7.2 for kernel but masked. Can I simply unmask it then emerge? Will gcc 4.7.2 overwrite default gcc? Is there any side-effect? Thank you in advance.
FYI: my gentoo profile is x64-nomultilib, with X and gnome.

I believe you can install about as many gcc's as you want, and use gcc-config to switch between them.
If it's straight up masked and not just keyworded for ~arch you might want to be careful because there's probably a good reason.
If adding it to package.keywords lets it install, might as well try it out. |
