Hello all,
I've installed and functioning the KDE enviroment, but now, I don't want KDE anymore.
There is problem to just install xfce and remove kde?
What should I know upfront?
Or just install and remove kde?!

Thank you!

you can just install xfce; either in parts or via the meta-package. you can keep kde as long as you like; you can choose the session you want to start in the login-window by setting it in your ~/.xinitrc.
(last) line in .xinitrc to start xfce4 via command startx:
Code:
startxfce4

GOOD LUCK!

Or with hardware support for removable media, power saving, and such in Thunar, xfce4-session, ...

USE="consolekit dbus pam polkit udev udisks upower thunar" enabled in make.conf, also USE="gdu" for =gnome-bae/gvfs-1.12* but not anymore for newer

Code:

# emerge -av xfce4-meta
# emerge -avUT world (or whatever world upgrade command you prefer to re-emerge packages with the new USE flags)
# rc-update add consolekit default
# rc-update add dbus default
# /etc/init.d/consolekit start

~/.xinitrc for `startx` command would then look like:

Code:

exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch

The official guide is also up to date (at least it doesn't contain old information), http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xfce-config.xml

And this is new to me, but http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Xfce
