Asus Xonar DX - setup issues.

I've gotten it to the point where the pulseaudio volume control (pavucontrol) software mixer recognizes audio. But, there's no sound. Nothing. Not in speakers, headphones, nada. Alsamixer no longer has these things muted; everything is maxed.

Any ideas?

As it turns out, that's *still* what happens when you let udev load before ALSA. udev loads the snd_modules, but won't let ALSA take control. https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5130838.html?sid=4fd9be67a050b5f305dbac02dda197cc
