I installed libreoffice-bin, which resolves the problem of not being able to build it.

Code:
checking for CLucene/analysis/cjk/CJKAnalyzer.h... no
configure: error: Your version of libclucene has contribs-lib missing.

guess that's a "me too" then...

I can get past that by copying that file from clucene to /usr/share/include - but then it just pops up the another issue about cppunit

hm, looks like clucene-2.3.3.4-r4.ebuild uses base_src_prepare but doesn't inherit base.eclass.

changing

Code:
inherit cmake-utils multilib

to

Code:
inherit base cmake-utils multilib

and re-emerging clucene makes libreoffice start compiling without copying anything anywhere manually.

compiling now...
