|
|
I followed the directions given on the wiki to install GNOME 3 without first having a GNOME 2 install. I added ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" to /etc/portage/make.conf and then emerged gnome with "emerge --autounmask-write -av gnome" But, instead of installing, it goes on about masked packages and gives me a long list of those effected by this error. I have tried "emerge --backtrack=30 -av gnome" to no avail. PLEASE HELP!

treeman1111,
With ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" you have elected to have a fully testing install. You do not need --autounmask-write.
What does Code: | eselect profile list | show?
You should choose a profile that ends in /gnome so you get some good (for gnome) default USE flags to start with.
Gnome does not need any hard masked packages, so we need your emerge output to see what the problem is. _________________ Regards,
