Hello Everyone

I'd like to share with you how to make canoscan lide 600f that isn't supported by sane to work. Canon doesn't supply the details of this scanner in order to develop a proper driver. A kind soul decided to develop a SANE backend for "CanoScan LiDE 600F".

Now to the steps:
1.

emerge Inline

Code:

cpan Device::USB

because Device::USB doesn't appear in portage
3. Get the script canoscan600f-20130118.pl from http://www.juergen-ernst.de/info_sane.html#5
4.

Code:

chmod 644 canoscan600f-20130118.pl

5. Run the script as root. Yes, I know it's not ideal, but that's the best there is. The output image is called scan.ppm.
6. Open the image in your favorite image viewer program. I used kolourpaint. It can be converted to jpeg or any other image format.

Voila.
