On a newly built system, when I run xterm, it opens up on the display fine, but when I press ctl-right-click to change the font, instead of the font selection pop-up menu, I get (on the terminal xterm was started from):
Code: |
xterm: cannot load font "-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso10646-1"
Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font
Error: Aborting: no font found

I have another very similar system that works fine. I have checked, and the new system has all the fonts that the old system has, so something must not be properly enabled.
I hate fiddling with fonts; it is such a complicated mess...
Can anybody give me a clue what is wrong?
I have also installed emacs, and all the fonts work ok with emacs. _________________ The MyWord KJV Bible tool is at http://www.elilabs.com/~myword

Never mind. I solved it. I had originally installed tigervnc before the fonts had been installed. I re-installed it and now everything seems to be working ok.
MORAL: Install all your X fonts before installing tigervnc. _________________ The MyWord KJV Bible tool is at http://www.elilabs.com/~myword
