I added

Code:
xorg.conf.d

and now when I boot I get the openbox screen instead of LXDE desktop.

The log is:

Sure it's the only change you did ?

I had the same effect with an emerge -uDNatv about one week back. I had to revdep-rebuild to enable lxpanel and the lxde menu again. Without these, lxde seems to fall back to it's openbox windows manager.

I uncommented a line containing something = "lxde" or something = "LXDE" in some conf file but honestly all I know and remember is this. Now I have the lxde screen back. It was a blind trial and error attempt which worked. If I find. out what I did I will post it here for others to benefit or I may need it again. :)
