|
|
Hi,
I've used netboot-yeeloong.img to boot and after that I've downloaded the stage3-mips64el_n64-20121108.tar.gz2. As I tried to unpack it with tar -xjpf stage3.... it failed with the error message: Code: | bunzip error -5
tar: short read |
then I've unpacked it on an amd64 machine. after this I've followed the mips handbook, but when I try to chroot if fails with the error message: Code: | illegal instruction |
I've read that the reason for this is that the precompiled packages aren't working on a different architecture (but the my tarball is for mips?!) and one have to use a stage1 tarball. But there is no stage1 tarball on the mirrors anymore. _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? LoTeK,
Please excuse the tiny URL http://tinyurl.com/d3f65m7 its a link to a blog post by one of the active MIPS developers.
It may be of interest if you have not seen it before. _________________ Regards,

NeddySeagoon,
Thank you, but unfortunately I already know the link I just sent him a mail and asked if he has any documentation about he has built his xfce-desktop.
If he doesn't respond I will give up for the moment and come back when I have a deeper understanding of gentoo and PMON. _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! NeddySeagoon,
ok, then I should try the #gentoo-hardened channel because since a week I'm very often in the #gentoo-mips channel and nobody was ever online
edit: oh, sometimes I am really stupid, I've always connected to the IRCNet server instead of the freenode, now I'm seeing all the others _________________ "I want to see gamma rays!
