Hi all,
My wife received a free Kindle Fire and I was wondering whether anybody knew how to stream video content from a linux box to the new device. It would be especially nice as it would enable us to stream video to the device or just use the computer directory as a remote directory for the kindle.

not quite sure what you are trying to do, but mplayer can stream to a file like so
mplayer -nolirc (source) -dumpstream -dumpfile (target file) |
