Forum topic 952990 is solved, but I can't add [solved] as it won't let me make the subject line any longer than it already is, and there is nothing in the subject I want to delete to make room. Am I being dense, or is something funny going on?

Nope. You just have to make room or else leave it as-is. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

So I have to remember to pad my topic subject lines with enough spaced to add [solved] later? Or is the issue that I'm just at the max total, and if I had originally used a shorter subject I could add to it?

The subject in question is already 60 characters long, which appears to be a hard limit. The problem is not that I can't edit the subject, it's just that I can't add "[solved]" without removing an equivalent number of characters. I suppose it's worth losing a bit of detail in the subject so the solved is shown.

The latter: no more than 60 characters are allowed under any circumstances.
