|
|
Hi, ALL,
I'm doing installation of Gentoo in a VirtualBox.
One thing that confused me is that upon booting the CD the network interface was not named "eth{0}", but something like "smp3t0".
Is it normal? Is it how newest udev calls network interfaces? Will the name be kept in the installation?
Thank you. |

yeah its normal.... udev persistent naming... you can turn it off in your instillation by
Code: |
su -c 'touch /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules'
|
and possibly turn it off on your install media by doing the same.... (pro tip of the day, i use xubuntu 12.04 to install in style, with network manager to auto deal with the networking & wifi connections if need be... firefox to read documentation & handbook, apt-get flash for youtube, hexchat (or xchat) for irc problem solving, and pidgin to stay connected to friends in instant messaging protocols.) |
