From what it is looking like, you want to use gnome? If you do that is fine, however, do note that gnome requires you use systemd instead of udev. So having the udev flag set is going to cause some troubles with gnome.
As far as this goes
Quote: | [blocks B ] media-video/ffmpeg:0 ("media-video/ffmpeg:0" is blocking media-video/libav-9.16) |
You need to choose on if you want to use ffmpeg or libav with vlc. From there you could try adding the other one to your package.mask. |

Blockers mean just that: that two packages can't be installed alogside. Usually, this happens because they are either equivalent or one provides a superset of what the other provides. The later is the case for udev and systemd.
In my humble understanding, if you want to use systemd, you don't need udev.
So, the first question that needs answer is: do you truly want to use systemd?
If so, then go here and follow the steps to fully migrate your system to systemd:
http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Systemd
If you have no idea what I am talking about, then you should stop for a moment, take a deep breathe and learn a bit about systemd and its pros and cons. |

As for gdm, just unmerge it, portage should then push the new version (and if not, you can always install it yourself).
Same goes for lvm2, but be sure not to reboot in the middle of the process if you need lvm to boot your system. |

Hello.
Now... (I'm following the Systemd guide) i have that error below on two systems here.
Somebody knows what to do? I have -udev in make.conf
Code: | # emerge --update --newuse -av @world
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy ">=kde-base/kdelibs-4.11.11:4[aqua=,nepomuk?]" has unmet requirements.
- kde-base/kdelibs-4.14.0::gentoo USE="acl alsa bzip2 fam handbook jpeg2k lzma mmx nls opengl policykit spell sse sse2 ssl udisks upower zeroconf -3dnow (-altivec) (-aqua) -debug -doc -kerberos -nepomuk -openexr -test -udev"
The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
udisks? ( udev ) upower? ( udev )
(dependency required by "kde-base/plasma-workspace-4.11.11" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])
|
update
It seems for me, that -udev isn't really important in the make.conf |
