I am trying to get video off of a dvd (and into media files).
I installed MakeMKV (I don't see many options, but I have to say it is quite simple to use :) ).
So I now have a file.
It plays, but I get a few complaints:
Code: |
$ mplayer title00.mkv
MPlayer 1.1-4.6.3 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Team
Can't open joystick device /dev/input/js0: No such file or directory
Can't init input joystick
Playing title00.mkv.

I would like to know how to do the following:
1. Get rid of the warning messages.
2. Get rid of the scaling.
3. Get rid of (some of) the metadata (I hate "unique IDs" and "Encoded dates" in metadata).
Mediainfo reports:
Should I be changing that (and how) the something else (the file will never be played on an ntsc television)?
I can probably live with the size (the files are quite large, but quality is important), but I do want to ask if reencoding (I assume to x264) makes sense. I would want to keep all of the menu items, subtitles, and such.
I would guess that ffmpeg is the tool to do this, but (while I can do a few things with it), the options are numerous and complex.
I would appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance for your help. |
