emerge problems...

Hi!
I got a problem with emerge: I can't merge pkgs anymore!!!
When I typed emerge alsa-driver he downloaded & compiled everything, I went away for a minute and when I came back, there was nothin movin on the screen anymore... Keyboard did not work, looked like a crash... (was compiling when crashed) So I just pressed reset, and booted again, and now I cant merge packages any more!! When the Kernel crashed with General Protection fauled during the KDE install, I could merge other pkgs after the reset... but now, if I type emerge alsa-driver e.g., it always stops with saying:
#emerge alsa-driver
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge media-sound/alsa-driver.... to /

And now it just doesnt print anything more!! I waited 10 minutes, but nothing seemed to happen! It also doesnt work with other pkgs now...

BTW, if I type
#emerge --debug alsa-driver
it says:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge ... to /

As I have just installed a basic system & X & Gnome2 but no sound or browser yet my a whole day of compiling was for nothing if I can't fix it...

Well, try again with 'emerge rsync' or 'emerge sync'. Maybe you should delete the comp. folders under '/var/tmp/portage' or '/usr/portage' or so...

Try it. But maybe I'm wrong - good luck!
