|
|
Hi,
I've recently installed Gentoo on a gen 3 Intel i7 PC and mostly everything is OK.
I've used the default/17.1/desktop profile and installed XFCE, with LightDM as the display manager.
Logging in is fine and works no problem, however when I'm away and the screen turns off and locks the desktop I have a little trouble unlocking the desktop again. Entering the password in the default unlock dialog fails to unlock the desktop. As a workaraound I need to click on switch user, which brings the normal LightDM dialog (gtk3 greeter??). Entering my password and clicking unlock here works fine.
My assumption is that the initial unlock diaolg application needs appropriate config in the pam.d folder, but I don't know where this dialog is from.
I'm a little new to Gentoo and the more hands on Linux world in general, so let me know if more info (logs, config files, etc.) is needed and where to find that info.
Many Thanks

Not sure exactly? Whatever xfce4-screensaver-preferences uses underneath. Not sure if that is its own thing, or if it is a wrapper for another service. |

Maybe look and see what process is running:
Code: | $ pgrep -l save
26738 xscreensaver |
xscreensaver is a dependency of xfce4-session because I have xscreensaver set as a use flag in /etc/portage/make.conf. That's the configuration that I'm familiar with, though it may be a holdover from many years ago. If you are not using xscreensaver, maybe it would be worth trying it. It works for me. _________________ Andy Figueroa

That returns nothing. Bit of digging and it looks XFCE is using its own screensaver xfce4-screensaver. There is a file in pam.d
/etc/pam.d/xfce4-screensaver
Code: |
auth include system-auth
auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so
