When I use gdm everything is fine. Meta-key opens activities view, I see my favorites in the sidebar, the menu (bottom-most button in the sidebar) contains every app I have installed.
Since gdm takes ages to start for no reason (extensive disk I/O for about 30 seconds...) I want to use startx/autologin or whatever. This will result in an empty activities view: sidebar does not contain any of my previously stored favorites, applications menu is empty. Using gdm again everything is fine, so settings are not lost but seem to be ignored when using startx.
What's going wrong here?
My .xinitrc contains only "exec gnome-session" |
