Hi,
I've got a OM2460 webcam on my Dell XPS1530 laptop. It shows up as this;

The device appears;
Quote:

ls -l /dev/video*
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 Mar 9 17:17 /dev/video0

but I don't get any video when I use Cheese to view it, but the device's blue led comes on. It doesn't seem to work in skype either.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
James

Does it work as root?

If so, is the user you were trying it as in the "video" group?

No, I'm in the video group and I've tried it as root and same problem,
Thanks for the suggestion though,
James

Try in terminal
Code:
mplayer -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0 tv://
mplayer should tell you what's wrong.
